Feeding

The sleepless nights you’re having are probably due to your baby needing a feed every few hours. It isn’t just something you can ignore, and they will cry and cry until you get up. But what to feed them has long been up for debate. There is nothing better than breast milk, but we know some women are opposed to the idea of breastfeeding. Some babies struggle with nursing as well.  There are options for moms who would like to breastfeed bu it isn’t working.  You could always try a breast pump and bottle rather than actually breastfeeding. It will give them all the vital nutrients they need.  This is also a great option for working moms or for when mom needs a break.

If this isn’t an option at all, that is okay too!  There are so many alternatives to breastfeeding that will work for baby. There are so many infant formulas that work almost the same as breast milk.  It can be a daunting task to find the exact right formula option for you.  Try comparing formulas on the internet and see which one gets the best feedback.

As for when they get older, the BabyFoodHub.com has some great examples of baby food makers that will allow you to make natural and organic baby food during the transition to solids. It’s going to be so much better for them than the jars of food you can buy from the supermarkets. It could even save you money in the long run. The earlier they are when you start them on a healthy course, the more likely they will be to continue eating healthy as they get in their teens. Don’t fall into the trap of some parents who succumb to their child’s plea for unhealthy snacks.  Filling your child with sugars and salt during the early stages of solid foods can be damaging to their health.

Routine

Routine is essential with newborns when it comes to their sleep. In the first few months, they’ll likely just sleep when they want to sleep. But during the night is where the troubles happen. The best thing you can do is get them into a sleep routine.  This means get them ready for, and in bed, at the same time every night.  This will help them get to sleep at the right time. The during the night, if they don’t wake up for a feed at any point, try waking them up at around six o’clock. They’ll go straight back to sleep afterwards which gives you time to either sleep as well, or prepare for the day!

Sharing Is Caring

If you want to be a successful parenting team, you need to share the duties. It used to be so common for the men to take a back seat with all of the hard work such as changing diapers. Today, men are stepping up to the plate and having an active role in their child’s life – even for the diapers.  It is truly important to ensure that the duties are spread evenly.  It has to be an equal partnership or it’s never going to work. It’ll create arguments, resentment, and in the end could ruin a relationship. Remember, parenting is a tough business, but if you are a team, it is also rewarding and can bring a couple closer together.

Becoming a new parent is full of emotion.  It is a wonderful time for a couple, but it is normal to be nervous.  Having a plan for baby’s arrival is the key.  Try some of our new parent tips for expecting moms and dads to help you along this happy journey.
