14 Allergy Friendly Quick Service Options at Walt Disney World

When our family travels, where we are going to eat is always a real concern.  With four members of our family having food allergies, finding a restaurant that can accommodate us is something very special.  This is one of the reasons that we choose to vacation at Walt Disney World Resort.  They have so many wonderful options at all four of their parks.  They even have numerous allergy friendly quick service options, which is nice on the budget as well.

Food allergies are such a concern for our family, that I tend to be an overprotective mother hen on every trip.  My family still reminds me about the first time we went to Disney World.  Now remember that this is the most magical place on Earth, right?  This is the biggest Make A Wish destination in the world, and they literally see millions of guests (some of whom must have dietary restrictions) each and every day.

Well I was pretty darn certain that there would be nothing my family could eat.  Everyone was going to starve, and we would have to enter bankruptcy just to keep our children properly fed.  I imagined every disaster filled scenario as if it was a horror film.  I scoured the internet for hours trying to make sure I had the proper plan in place. Does this sound at all familiar?  I really hope there are other mildly neurotic mothers out there, and that I am not the only one.  My husband might disagree, but I know I am not the only one.

Well to make a long story a little shorter, I ended up devoting an entire checked bag to foods my family could eat.  Guess how much we actually ate.  In truth, nothing.  Disney happens to have food allergies completely under control.  We were able to find plenty of reasonably priced meal options that everyone could eat.  In fact, the Disney World parks have 14 allergy friendly quick service restaurants.

How Do Allergy Friendly Quick Service Restaurants Differ from Other Quick Service Locations?

To be an allergy friendly option, it means that the staff has had additional training specifically working with allergy free meals.  You will find a separate menu listing the common food allergens and what options will work for you.  Plan on it taking a little longer to receive your meal, as they work hard to make sure your meal does not come into contact with any allergens.  Allergy free meals even get their own tray away from any other meals in your order to avoid cross contamination.

Which Quick Service Locations are Allergy Friendly?

I have compiled a list of all fourteen allergy friendly quick service options grouped by park for your convenience. Each listing includes the location within the park, and a brief description of the theme and menu options. Even picky eaters  should find something they like, as there are so many choices in all of the parks.  All of the quick service locations listed below accept the Disney Dining Plan as well.

Magic Kingdom

Be Our Guest (Quick Service for breakfast and lunch only)

Be Our Guest is located in Fantasyland near the foot of Beast’s castle. Princes and princesses will feel right at home when they get the opportunity to actually eat in the Beast’s castle.  With talking menus and enchanted roses, you will feel like you stepped into the movie. You can even try the grey stuff, though this is not allergy friendly.  The menu is French, which makes this restaurant the perfect location to try something out of the ordinary for a quick service.  Our personal favorite allergy friendly meal is the carved turkey sandwich, but they have numerous options to choose from.  Please note that this is the only Quick Service restaurant that accepts reservations, so you will want to plan ahead to eat here.

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe (Author’s Favorite)

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe is located in Tomorrowland near the entrance to Fantasyland.  This restaurant is a family favorite for sure.  Here you can enjoy the musical entertainment of Sonny Eclipse, an animatronic extraterrestrial who happens to be very good at the keyboard.  The menu is American and includes things like hamburgers, rotisserie chicken, and pulled pork sandwiches.  Our favorite on the allergy friendly menu is the 1/3 pound Angus burger.  As with a lot of quick service options, Cosmic Ray’s does not serve breakfast.

Cosmic Ray's

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe is located in Frontierland, near Splash Mountain.  If you are looking for a lunch or dinner option with a southwestern kick, this is the place for you.  You will feel like you just stepped off the stagecoach into an Old West saloon. This also happens to be a great place to see the fireworks display, as long as you don’t mind missing the castle.  Our favorite on the allergy friendly menu is the chicken rice bowl.

Columbia Harbor House

The Columbia Harbor House is located in Liberty Square near the Liberty Tree Tavern and features seafood and New England style cuisine.  You will feel as if you have been transported back in time to the days of the Revolutionary War, as it is themed like a Colonial era inn. We have not visited this quick service option, but it has very good reviews.

The Pinocchio Village Haus

The Pinocchio Village Haus is located in Fantasyland near It’s A Small World.  It features flatbreads, chicken strips, and salads.  We really like that this quick service location has large salad options, as it is nice to have something a little healthier every so often.  My kids love the fact that chicken nuggets and fries are on the allergy friendly menu.

Casey’s Corner

Casey’s Corner is located on Main  Street USA near the Crystal Palace.  If you love all things hotdog,  Casey’s will not disappoint.  This location has hot dogs, peanuts, and generally all things baseball.  It even has a baseball style organ to make you feel like you are actually in the action.  This has a fun, friendly atmosphere that baseball fans are sure to love.  The menu is – well hot dogs, and the allergy friendly menu is no different.

Liberty Inn

Liberty Inn is located in the American Pavillion in Epcot’s World Showcase.  As you may have guessed, the menu is American.  The theme of this restaurant is colonial America.  We love that this quick service is allergy friendly, but since we are American, we usually choose not to visit this location when touring the World Showcase.  However, if you reside outside of the US or are a big history buff, this location will be quite fun.

Sunshine Seasons (Author’s Favorite)

Sunshine Seasons is located in the lower level of the Land Pavilion.  It is very unique in that all of the produce served here is grown right on Disney World property.  Think fresh fruits and vegetables and a very healthy menu.  If you would like to know more about food served at Sunshine Seasons, I highly recommend a tour on the Living With the Land ride just before or after eating there.  This is a family favorite.  The kids like the yummy options and I like the healthy menu.

Sunshine Seasons

Electric Umbrella

Electric Umbrella is located in Future World near Innoventions East.  This location serves American cuisine such as hamburgers and french fries.  Being in Future World, this quick service restaurant is themed with lots of neon lights.  We have never tried this location, and reviews on the food are mixed.

Animal Kingdom

Restaurantosaurus (Author’s Favorite)

Restaurantosaurus is located in Dinoland near the Boneyard.  The dinosaur lover in your family will truly enjoy this quick service location.  Every kids meal comes packed in it’s own plastic pale complete with a shovel.  When your family is done eating, the kids can head over the the Boneyard for their own dinosaur dig with their new archaeology tools (shovel and pale) in hand.  Our favorite on the allergy friendly menu is the chicken strips and steamed broccoli.

Flame Tree Barbeque (Author’s Favorite)

Flame Tree Barbecue is located in Discovery Island and features things you might see at a barbecue.  This is an open-concept restaurant with no indoor seating.  It does, however, serve some of the best food you will ever eat.  The portion sizes are very generous, and the sampler meal could easily feed two people  Our favorite on the allergy friendly menu is the ribs, chicken and Pulled pork sampler.

Flame Tree Barbecue

Pizzafari is also located in Discovery Island, and of course features pizza.  We have not tried this location, but we have heard good things.  The decor is fairly standard with pictures of animals on the walls, but not extremely interesting.  If you are in the mood for pizza though, this would be the spot.

Hollywood Studios

Backlot Express (Author’s Favorite)

In a galaxy far, far away young Jedi’s could be seen eating at the Backlot Express.  Well not really, but this restaurant will definitely appeal to the Star Wars lover in your family.  Move over Mickey Waffles, because the Dark Side has invaded this restaurant, and that includes  Dark Side chicken and waffles.  This meal is complete with Darth Vader waffles. Unfortunately this is not an allergy friendly option.  They do have lots of fun items to choose from, including our allergy friendly favorite, the Galactic Chicken Salad. Located near the Star Wars attractions, this quick service location is perfect for when you need a break from saving the galaxy.

Backlot Express

ABC Commissary

ABC Commissary is located on Commissary Lane toward the back of the park.  You will be instantly transported to Hollywood, California where you will see the signs for all the major studios.  The food here is traditional American, and though we have not eaten here, it has good reviews.

When you find yourself in need of some allergy friendly quick service meals, Disney World has some really great options.  From traditional American to French cuisine, your family can find budget friendly meals that will work for the entire family.

  1. You’ve given quite a good list for those with allergy issues. I noted that at Casey’s Corner they had peanuts. Here in Australia – peanuts are not allowed to come to children’s day care centres because of the number of children now having peanut allergies. Is that not the same in America?

    1. Yes, I believe that schools and daycare facilities do have some strict rules regarding peanuts. However, Disney has visitors from all walks of life, so they do their best to accommodate everyone. As far as Casey’s serving peanuts, this is true. These are in sealed plastic bags, and are kept away from orders that may have a nut allergy. In the event that a person has such an allergy they cannot be in the same room as the nuts, then they may wish to try one of the other allergy friendly options available at Walt Disney World. For those without peanut allergies, Casey’s has many options on their menus including gluten free buns. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you!
